Ensuring quality in infant formula production: In-line and End-of-Line
The demand for industrially manufactured baby food made from powdered milk derivatives in industrialised and emerging countries is very high, as are the quality and composition requirements for the mixed powders used.
Micro-ingredients such as probiotics, prebiotics, minerals and trace elements – including essential elements such as zinc, copper, selenium or chromium – must be distributed in the baby food with the highest precision and uniformity. Due to the small dosing quantities and the high relevance for the nutrient balance, only precision mixers may be used.
The mixing process must be gentle: the particle structure of the raw materials must be preserved. Functional ingredients that are present in encapsulated form, such as vitamins and probiotic cultures, must be preserved. The mixing materials must not heat up.
