Products of the chemical industry

The chemical industry processes a wide range of substances - from fine and specialty chemicals to additives and catalysts to pigments, fillers, and polymeric additives. These products are often highly functional and are further processed in downstream processes, such as plastics, coatings, detergents, or technical compounds. Correspondingly high are the requirements for production: ingredients must be precisely dosed, evenly distributed, and processed safely. At the same time, aspects such as product protection, process safety, and the controlled handling of potentially hazardous substances play a central role.

Typical Products and Terms in the Chemical Industry

  • Fine Chemicals and Specialty Chemicals
  • Additives and Catalysts
  • Pigments, Dyes, and Fillers
  • Polymers and Plastic Additives
  • Detergent and Cleaning Powders
  • Functional Blends and Precursors

Requirements for Mixing, Drying, and Reacting

Chemical formulations differ greatly in their physical properties. Fine powders, coarse solids, moist or pasty intermediates may come into contact within a process. The goal is to process these components reproducibly without damaging particles or impairing the function of individual ingredients. Particularly challenging are processes in which substances are not only mixed but also simultaneously dried or chemically reacted. Temperature control, residence time, and heat transfer must be precisely controlled. At the same time, complete emptying of the equipment is crucial to avoid cross-contamination and enable safe product changes - especially with toxic, reactive, or high-priced chemicals.

amixon® solutions for the chemical industry

amixon® develops and builds mixers, mixing dryers, and reactors for chemical applications, focusing on precise dispersion, product-friendly processing, and safe process control. The systems are designed for batch processes as well as complex multi-stage processes and can be flexibly adapted to different product conditions.

Typical process engineering tasks in chemistry:

- homogeneous dispersion of additives, pigments, and catalysts

- gentle processing to maintain particle size and flowability

- mixing, drying, and reacting in defined process steps

- safe and nearly complete emptying to avoid cross-contamination

- easy cleaning to support safe handling of hazardous substances

amixon® process machines at a glance

The VMT combines mixing, drying, and reacting in a closed apparatus. The use of vacuum allows solvents and moisture to be removed gently at moderate product temperatures. The uniform product movement supports homogeneous heat and mass transfer throughout the entire process - from the moist intermediate product to the dry end product.

The AMT is designed for chemical processes with high requirements for drying performance and process control. Heatable walls, mixing tools, and floor surfaces enable efficient heat transfer and thus reliable drying of even demanding products. The conical bottom additionally supports good residual emptying, reducing product losses and facilitating product changes.

The AM is suitable for mixing tasks in the chemical industry where product protection, flexible batch sizes, and clean discharge are required. The conical design supports uniform product movement and facilitates complete discharge - an advantage for frequently changing formulations or sensitive chemicals.

The Gyraton® mixer is a precision silo mixer for homogenizing larger batches. It combines gentle product movement with high mixing quality and is particularly suitable for raw materials from chemical productions with very large batches of 10 to 100 m³ that need to be homogenized into a single unit.

Technical college and process development

In the amixon® Technology Center, chemical mixing, drying, and reaction processes can be practically investigated with original substances. Mixing quality, heat transfer, emptying, and cleanability are evaluated together and specifically designed for industrial use. This creates early certainty for later plant and process design.

Chemical products place the highest demands on precision, safety, and process control. Their production requires process technology that works reliably, flexibly, and reproducibly - from the first mixing step to the final product. amixon® develops and builds the appropriate mixers, mixer dryers, and reactors for this purpose.
