Hygiene standards
The hygienic standard refers to the entirety of the design principles, material specifications, surface finishes, and operating procedures that ensure equipment can be cleaned effectively and does not pose a risk of contamination. Active ingredient powders have very small particles and generally a large specific surface area. They are prone to cross-contamination.
The most important aspects of hygienic mixer design include:
- Smooth, crevice-free internal surfaces
- Weld seams with high surface quality
- Geometry without dead spaces
- Use of food- or pharma-compliant materials
- Defined cleaning procedures (CIP/WIP)
- Controlled seals and shaft feedthroughs
For high-quality applications, amixon® mixers are manufactured according to established guidelines (e.g., EHEDG or GMP principles). Hygienically optimized vertical precision mixers enable minimal product residues, fast cleaning, and rapid product changeovers. amixon® precision mixers often meet higher standards than those of the EHEDG.
