How fast are response times and on-site service availability in German-speaking countries?

Response time and on-site service availability in German-speaking countries cannot be stated as a blanket figure. They depend on the service contract, fault criticality, location, the availability of qualified technicians, and on spare parts and access to the plant.

What matters is the contractual definition in the service level agreement. Initial response, remote diagnosis, on-site arrival and restoration time must be clearly distinguished from one another. An initial response merely means that a qualified contact takes charge of the fault. It is not the same as a repair or a guaranteed resumption of production.

For production-critical plants, 24-hour service with clear prioritisation should be agreed. The contract should define when a fault counts as critical, within what time remote support begins, when a technician must be on site, which escalation paths apply, and whether spare parts are available. For less critical or plannable work, appointments can be arranged according to production scheduling.

Remote access and suitable plant data can speed up root-cause analysis and resolve some faults without a site visit. The actual restoration time, however, often depends on spare parts, safety clearances, access to the plant and the expertise required. Preventive maintenance, spare-parts stocking and condition monitoring reduce unplanned downtime and improve serviceability.

Service and availability at amixon®

amixon® machines are designed for a long service life. Many units manufactured in Paderborn have been in daily use for more than 30 years, and some machines for over 40 years. This long-term use is an indication of the robust construction and the fundamentally low susceptibility to faults of the plants.

The vertical construction, low mixing-tool speeds and the mixing tool being mounted at the top only all help to limit wear and dynamic loads. A lower shaft passage in the product chamber is eliminated. This reduces typical wear points and simplifies maintenance.

Maintenance as needed

Despite the robust construction, regular inspections and preventive maintenance are advisable. They help to detect wear at an early stage, secure availability and avoid unplanned downtime.

A predictive maintenance concept is particularly useful for large vacuum mixer-dryers and large synthesis reactors. Here, selected condition data can be monitored, for example from the drive, bearings, sealing systems, vacuum technology, temperature control and safety-relevant components. The aim is to carry out maintenance measures on a plannable basis before a component affects production.

Fast support in the event of a fault

Regardless of a maintenance contract, amixon® strives to provide support as quickly as possible in the event of faults and urgent service cases. The specific response and on-site time depends on the fault, location, accessibility of the plant, spare-parts availability and the expertise required.

amixon®'s aim is clear: to do everything possible so that operators can use their plants reliably and produce economically. This includes technical support, spare-parts supply, maintenance, modernisation, retrofitting and process-engineering advice throughout the entire life cycle of the plant.
