A pilot plant is a technical testing facility on an industrial scale. It is used to carry out tests under conditions that closely resemble real-world processes. The aim is to develop, optimise and validate processes, product concepts and equipment.

In a pilot plant, for example, mixing, reaction, drying, conveying and dosing processes are investigated. The plants are generally modular in design and can be configured flexibly. Measurement systems record process data such as temperature, pressure, speed, throughput and product quality. This data is used to extrapolate results for full-scale industrial plants.

amixon® pilot plants are used across a wide range of industries: for example, in the chemical industry, food processing, the pharmaceutical industry, battery manufacturing, high-performance ceramics, powder metallurgy and the plastics industry. They enable scale-up from the laboratory to production. The insights gained from the pilot plant reduce development risks and investment costs.
