Dustex-Zone 20
Dustex-Zone 20 is a zone with a risk of explosion due to combustible dusts. In this zone, an explosive dust-air atmosphere is present continuously, for long periods, or frequently. Typical examples are the interiors of silos, filters, mills, mixers, or conveyor lines.
Zone 20 is classified according to the ATEX Directive and EN 60079. Equipment and systems in this zone must be designed for Category 1D. They must be capable of being operated safely even in the event of rare malfunctions.
Zone classification serves the selection of suitable electrical and mechanical equipment. It forms the basis for explosion protection documents, risk assessments, and constructive protective measures.
